PICADOR LAB

We welcome requests from our customers, whether they submit sketches, drawings or images, or simply share moods and styles as points of reference.
With our team, we carry out the first feasibility study.
We choose the techniques to use based on production efficiency and the client’s budget, and we carry out in-depth research on eventual requests for materials, finishes or new processing techniques.
We create 3D renderings of the possible models or resin prints. In some cases, the modeling is done manually in wax or by creating a first handcrafted prototype.
All these steps are taken to allow clients to evaluate the need for any changes and/or improvements before moving on to the final development of the model and subsequent production.
We guarantee quality control on every piece worked.

CASTING

Lost-wax or precision casting is an ancient technique, dating back to the Bronze Age and used for centuries both in sculpture and in jewelry-making. World-famous antique sculptures such as the Riace Bronzes, the Capitoline Wolf and the Chimera of Arezzo were created using this technique, as was most Greek, Etruscan and Roman jewelry.
Casting reached its high point during the Italian Renaissance with works  such as Perseus with the Head of Medusa and the Salt Cellar by Benvenuto Cellini.
Although this technique has remained almost unchanged over time, it has been perfected with the support of new 3D technologies, which make it possible to create a final sample within a few days of model approval.

TURNING

Founded in 1998, Picador Srl is a leading company in the production of semi-finished products made with computer numerical control (CNC) machining centers for turning and milling. These are computerized CNC lathes that ensure precision processing with micron-level finishing. These processes can be applied to all types of metals, from noble to less noble metals, including alloys and composites. Based on customer designs, the company can quickly produce various types of semi-finished products. This versatility allows it to successfully enter other sectors beyond jewelry production, such as precision mechanics or dental technology.

OUR WORK

The desire to offer unique and special products has driven the company to conduct constant research, both in the use of alternative materials and in rediscovering artisanal production techniques that made our country famous in the past (e.g., Byzantine mosaic). The Picador sample collection includes approximately 4000 items.

OUR HISTORY

Expertise developed over fifty years of family entrepreneurship, combined with a passion for craftsmanship and a commitment to customer responsiveness: these are just some of the qualities that explain the growth of Picador Srl in Arezzo, which has been specializing in the manufacture of jewelry and metal accessories for 25 years.

Francesca Saltarelli CEO

I have a diverse background, with a Florentine father and an American mother. Since childhood, I've been captivated by the world of jewelry, which I began to explore through my father's business. In 1973, he founded a company in Los Angeles specializing in importing Italian-made jewelry to the United States.  Graduating with honors in Economics and Commerce from the University of Florence, I immediately joined the family business. My role involved researching and developing new products. In 2003, I acquired shares in Picador. Even though I have how worked over 25 years in the industry, I retain an unwavering passion and enthusiasm for jewelry.   I enjoy experimenting with new crafting techniques, and, above all, I like to rediscover traditional artisanal methods, seamlessly integrating them with modern technologies to give them a contemporary edge.
